National Bison Range

From beautiful Glacier National Park in northern Montana our next destination was Washington via the famous route 20.  On our way however was the National Bison Range in western Montana.  Our route took us around the huge Flathead Lake and then onto the National Bison Range.  I wouldn’t consider it a destination of it’s own, but definitely worth a stop if it’s on your way.  There is a 19 mile loop drive that takes you through the range.  We saw lots of wildlife including bison, bighorn sheep, a variety of birds, pronghorn antelope, and some of the largest mule deer I’ve ever seen – the antlers were HUGE!  Binoculars are a must at this place.  We spent a large part of the afternoon here as the drive itself takes about 2 hours to complete and we had to unhitch the trailer at the visitor center since you can’t take trailers on the loop through the range.  Since we were stopped we also ate lunch and I took a nap on my bed right there in the visitor center parking lot.  Now that is pretty cool.  here’s a few shots from our time at the National Bison Range.
